The 83rd Annual Academy Awards opened spectacularly with Anne Hathaway and James Franco...
Due to not having Sky Movies (boo hiss) I had to make do with a live stream from the red carpet. I didn't see one dress that I thought was even a teeny bit vile and the buzz seemed ridiculously electric.
The predictions I made prior to the awards were surprisingly accurate, I was bracing myself for some upsets.
Cannot WAIT to see the 'repeat' of the ceremony.

Oscarlicious!
Hola Amigos!
I am beyond excited for Sunday, I realise the ceremony doesn't start until 1.30am UK time but I am going to jack myself up on Lucozade in an attempt to troop through to the end!
This post is just a quick one to give the my predictions of who I think will win awards.
To follow will be reviews of 'Brighton Rock' and 'True Grit'. Also a little bit of Trailer Trash will be thrown in for good measue...
PREDICTIONS
ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE - Colin Firth - The Kings Speech / Jeff Bridges - True Grit

BAFTA BAFTA BAFTA
Ok, I know I said I would post about 'Brighton Rock' but shit got a little bit crazy there for a while...
I will DEFINITELY post my views on it in the next couple of days (whether you want to know or not)
After a lovely relaxing weekend in the homelands of Norfolk, I am fresh and buzzing for the arrival of the BAFTA's Ceremony this evening at 9pm, being broadcast on BBC1 from London's Royal Opera House.
I'm just going to share with you my predictions for tonight's winners...
PREDICITONS
BEST FILM - The King's Speech
DIRECTOR - Danny Boyle - 127 Hours
LEADING ACTOR - Colin Firth - The King's Speech
LEADING ACTRESS - Natalie Portman - Black Swan
SUPPORTING ACTOR - Christian Bale - The Fighter / Geoffrey Rush - The King's Speech (I can't decide between them!)
SUPPORTING ACTRESS - Helena Bonham Carter - The King's Speech
FILM NOT IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo/Biutiful (Once again I can't decide)
ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY - The King's Speech (But I want it to be Inception)
ADAPTED SCREENPLAY - 127 Hours
OUTSTANDING BRITISH FILM - The King's Speech
OUTSTANDING DEBUT BY A BRITISH WRITER, DIRECTOR OR PRODUCER - Exit Through The Gift Shop
ANIMATED FILM - Toy Story 3
CINEMATOGRAPHY - The King's Speech
ORANGE RISING STAR AWARD - Gemma Arterton (but I would like Andrew Garfield )
From my predictions you can see I think 'The King's Speech' is pretty much going to clean up across the board. This is not to say things will go this particular way at the Oscars or any other ceremony, but BAFTA is in place to celebrate British work.
If you want to see the full list of nominees or get more information about the awards then there is a link at the bottom of the page that will take you to the BAFTA website :)
Right, I think I need to lay down, it's definitely not normal for a 22 year old woman to be this excited...

Trailer Trash...
Tonight I partook in a cheeky Cineworld trip to see 'Brighton Rock'. Tomorrow I will post what I thought about it, but first things first, this blog is a quick one to share the trailers shown prior to the film this evening...
The first trailer began with Matthew McConaughey's smug mug and I thought 'Sweet Lord another vomit inducing Rom-Com', but I was admittedly very wrong. 'The Lincoln Lawyer' is an adapted screenplay from the Michael Connelly book of the same title. Starring Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillipe, William H. Macy and Josh Lucas this could definitely be worth a watch...
The Lincoln Lawyer
The next trailer, I have seen before, but it once again interested me straight away as it stars my ultimate older man crush, Liam Neeson. Also with January Jones and Diane Kruger, the trailer speaks for itself...
Unknown
The last one was a lovely little Rom-Com starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. It looks inevitably predictable but who cares?! They're both ridiculously beautiful human beings, it also credits Ludacris among the cast which is always fun and it might be a little bit of light relief after the stuffy awards season madness. Enjoy!

Drama Queens at their Best!
From the side-splitting, to the tear inducing, I find acceptance speeches are the best part of awards ceremonies.
I've been You-Tubing Oscar speeches from across the years and there are some total beauts among the ones I've watched...
To kick this off, I'm going to share Cuba Gooding Jr's inevitably hilarious speech for his role as Rod Tidwell in the 1996 film 'Jerry Maguire'...
You will be able to see that maybe his character in this film is not so far from the man himself, it had me doubled over!
Other funny speeches include Jack Nicholson for 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and the beginning of Adrien Brody's acceptance for 'The Pianist' where he gets a little over friendly with an unsuspecting Halle Berry.
Some are obviously moving, many include melodramatic thesps turning on the cheese, but there are none more moving and upsetting than Heath Ledger's family accepting his 'Actor in a Supporting Role' award for his iconic portrayal of The Joker in the Batman film 'The Dark Knight' on his behalf. The wound was obviously still so raw at this time, they carried themselves amazingly and it is a really humbling moment.
One completely strange acceptance which freaks me the hell out is from the praying mantis herself, Angelina Jolie, for her supporting role in 'Girl, Interrupted'. From the gothic outfit, to the strange comment about her brother, it is a whole world of weird...take a look!
One I completely love, is Sandra Bullock's acceptance for her leading role in 'The Blind Side'. It is a perfect balance of funny, humble and emotional, plus she looks HOT! Jesse James...FYL.
Others to watch are Dustin Hoffman's acceptance for 'Rain Man', Sean Penn's for his leading role in 'Milk', Hilary Swank's speeches for her leading roles in Million Dollar Baby and Boys Don't Cry and Whoopi Goldberg's for her supporting role in Ghost.
With the BAFTA's coming next Sunday 13th February and the Oscar's on the 27th of this month, I'm sure there will be more people thanking the world and his wife, their Mothers, confessing they are 'so in love with their brothers right now' or using their time to pledge their political or religious views...whatever they do, this year is definitely going to add some more You-Tubable speeches to the list!

BAFTA Countdown...
Bonjourno!
I am anticipating an amazing BAFTAs ceremony this year, and the award, I personally, am interested in the most is 'The Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award'.
There are five nominees left after Orange customers whittled down the longlist of eight.
The nominees for the award are:
Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia)
Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus)
Tom Hardy (Bronson, Inception)
Aaron Johnson (Nowhere Boy, Kick Ass)
Emma Stone (Superbad, Easy A)
Personally, I voted for Andrew Garfield. Even though I am a huge Tom Hardy fan (versatile as you like!) Garfield is fantastic in 'The Social Network' and in 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'. Plus, if we are talking about a 'Rising Star', you can't get much more perfect than a young actor who only graduated from Drama School six years ago, has performed alongside fantastically establised actors and matched, if not, outperformed them, and has just bagged the lead role in one of the biggest film franchises in the world.
I am going to crawl out of his arse for a second to say that I think every one of these five are absolutely worthy of winning this acolade, and, if I'm honest, think Gemma Arterton will win...
She was fresh out of Drama School in 2007 when she snatched the role of Strawberry Fields in 'Quantum of Solace' and hasn't looked back since. She has balanced theatre and smaller budget films with blockbusters and is probably the obvious choice for the win.
But after Kristen Stewart winning it last year, thus damaging my soul slightly, I would like to be selfish and plea with Orange customers to vote for the Garf!

Ooo! P.s.
Prior to 'The Fighter' there were some awesome trailers...
Check out:
'The Rite' (Anthony Hopkins)
'True Grit' (Really excited!)
'The Eagle' (Jamie Bell)
This one, is 'Limitless' starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro...my lovely friend showed me it earlier today and the trailer also popped up as a warm up treat this evening. Although far fetched and slightly ridiculous...

'Everyone Deserves A Fighting Chance' The Fighter 02/02/2011
Good Evening!
Just back from seeing David O. Russel's 'The Fighter' and wanted to get a cheeky little blog in before I drift off to the land of nod to dream sweet, sweet dreams about Mark Wahlberg's arms...
I wanted to talk about the cast's performance, and in particular, Christian Bale. After a questionable performance in 'Terminator Salvation' and an equally questionable accent in the recent Batman films, Bale is by far the best thing to happen to this movie. With utterly deserved supporting actor awards at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild ceremonies for his compelling performance as Dicky Eklund, he is surely a shoo-in for the Academy Award.
Now I won't say this is the best film I have ever seen or that it has changed my life in any way, but it is a ballsy true story. It is also one heck of a boxing film, as I read somewhere "The best boxing film since Rocky" and with 7 Oscar nomination nods under it's belt, I tend to agree.
Collaboratively, the cast have amazing chemistry and notably Amy Adams and Melissa Leo (Screen Actors Guild winner for supporting actress) put in unquestionable gritty performances.
Anyway, Mr. Wahlberg's guns will not fantasise about themselves...

My First Blog...Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue
So, this is my first ever blog post...bare with, I may take a little breaking in but I'm sure I'll get there! This blog, as stated in my 'About Me' section, is pretty much a way for me to be creative and write about my passion for film and acting and everything about the world of cinema.
I'm kicking off with a little light hearted venting about my 'obsessive phases'. These phases are usually circled around actors...previous stalkees have been the likes of Zac Efron and, of course, Robert Pattinson.
Currently, in light of 'Awards Season' and vigorous movie marketing, awards pictures and news stories, there are a plethora of 'obsessions' milling around in my head. Don't get me wrong, these people are gorgeous, but I am also in admiration of acting talent! A vast amount of these are in this Vanity Fair behind the scenes shoot:
BABES.
Now I realise I am being an absolute teenage girl here and blogs to follow will be of a more interesting nature and less driven by hormones, but I needed to get that off of my chest...
Here is the clip...enjoy!
