Catherine Hardwicke returns with this adaptation of the folk tale 'Little Red Riding Hood'.
The trailer promises unbearable sexual chemistry and an atmospheric fantasy horror but, unfortunately, delivers nothing of the sort.
My female hormones are very thankful for the discovery of Max Irons... (swoon) Had he not have been in this film, there's a high chance I would have walked out of the cinema and if you know me, you will know that is something I just don't do.
Although it didn't really entertain me, and for the most part there was some questionable acting on display, I did not suspect the Wolf to be who it was. (No spoilers here, if you want to inflict this film upon yourself that's your choice!!)
I wish there had been so much more sexual tension in the love triangle between Valerie (Amanda Seyfried), Peter (Shiloh Fernandez) and Henry. (Irons) You definitely get the feeling that Hardwicke is taking impatient short cuts and rushing character development and relationships as she did with 'Twilight'. Very similar to 'I Am Number Four' in the sense that the film was an hour and fourty minutes long and yet you feel like not much has actually happened; also it's being targeted at that very same market as before.
There are so many possibilities and angles from which you could view this small community haunted by the Wolf. However, somehow, Hardwicke has made this fantasy village, with so many magical opportunities, boring and characterless.
You can absolutely see what was being attempted, but disappointingly, it doesn't ever reach the bar it is aiming for.

I Am Number Four
The trailer for I Am Number Four suggests this Sci Fi Thriller will offer much more than it actually does.
In large part, this film feels like a diappointing student film. Obviously the Hollywood sheen of shiny special effects sets it apart. It feels much longer than it's 109 minutes without offering a great deal of character development or content.
Having said that, this film has an obvious target audience and has clearly stuck to that. Pinpointing the fantasy romance teen market that Twilight has left in it's wake, I Am Number Four seems to fulfill it's purpose in this specific respect. Hollywood intelligently, if artlessly, continues to make and promote films such as these because they sell.
I found it frustrating sitting through this because with a better script, therefore fewer continuity problems and fewer holes in the plot, this could have been so much more than it is.
There's not much more to say apart from I hope to God that the sequel begging ending is not indulged!

Trailer Trash!
I've got 6 trailer delights coming right up!
Crazy Stupid Love
First up is this Romantic Comedy which boasts an amazing cast of Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei. Plus Gosling looks to have his top off for a large percentage of the film. Great choice.
Bad Teacher
This original Comedy sees Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz reunite in a professional capacity as Diaz persues Timberlake to be her love interest. Awkward anyone?
Super 8
Produced by Steven Speilberg and written and directed by J.J. Abrams, I think this will be one of the most intriguing movies of the year.
Captain America
Chris Evans stars as Steve Rogers/Captain America in yet another Marvel adaptation for this year.
Green Lantern
ANOTHER Marvel adaptation. Ryan Reynolds in the lead role as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern with Blake Lively as his leading lady. Should be interesting...
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush AND no Keira Knightley inflicting awkward monologues on us all. What's not to like?!
Enjoy!

Scream 4 - 15/04/11
Unfortunately for Scream, the Scary Movie franchise happened. The feeling of 'I can't take this seriously' hangs heavily in the air. I feel like Wes Craven made an intelligent move to wait this long to bring out Scream 4; to gather hype, anticipation and excitement and leave behind the stigma of the 'horror-comedy'.
I watched this late on a Friday evening at the O2 Sky Superscreen VIP Balcony, which was extremely delicious! Hugely recommend.
Rather than picking inevitable holes in the plot, thus completely ruining enjoyment of the film, I let it wash over me.
It is, strangely, a comfort to see all the familiar faces back to fight Ghostface. Neve Campbell hasn't lost the ability to pull her distressed face on cue and Courtney Cox has stepped straight back into Gail's shoes; the lovable bitch is certainly back with force.
Scream 4 is imperfect yet clever and entertaining, predictable, yet I did not expect the twist and suitably jumpy and far more gory than it's predecessors.
I would definitely recommend a watch, it's become a bit of an institution; sit back and enjoy!
